Unemployment

This section provides information on the number of people who claiming unemployment - related benefits in Derry~Londonderry and how this District Council area compares across Northern Ireland. The skill levels of those on the unemployment register are also reported for the District Councils of Derry, Limavady and Strabane.

Claimant Count - March 2013

• In March 2013 there were 6,107 claimants in Derry~Londonderry, this represents 8.6% of the working age population in the area (the rate for NI is 5.6%). 

• The Strand and Diamond wards have the highest proportion of claimants (19.3% and 17.9% respectively) within Derry~Londonderry while Ballynashallog has the lowest proportion of claimants (3.1%).
