Former Dublin docklands chief joins Ilex

Ilex, the urban regeneration company for Derry~Londonderry, has announced the appointment of Peter Coyne as Interim Project Director. Having led the organisation responsible for the transformation of Dublin Docklands he brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Peter Coyne MRICS, MSCS, MBA.is a Chartered Surveyor with considerable experience as a practitioner and as a general manager in property development, urban redevelopment and social & economic regeneration.

He was the first Chief Executive of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority. He took office in January 1998 and saw the 520 hectare Docklands Project through it’s first seven and a half years.  During that time Peter Coyne led his multi-disciplinary team in driving forward one of the most ambitious and successful urban regeneration projects in the world, undertaking strategic and area master planning, land acquisition and de-contamination, property development, area environmental & infrastructural development and comprehensive social regeneration with specific emphasis on education.

Between 1992 and 1998 Peter Coyne was the Regional Director (South), British Waterways.  In this role he was responsible for the business re-structuring of the organisation for improved efficiency and effectiveness in engineering and leisure management, and the commercial exploitation of the property assets, particularly in London and in London’s Docklands

Prior to 1992 Peter Coyne worked in Glasgow, Scotland, as a Chartered Surveyor (RICS-Planning and Development). He holds an executive MBA from the University of Glasgow (1988).
 
In April 2005 he established Coyne Associates specialising in property development and urban regeneration.
