Ilex appoints two new directors

Urban regeneration company Ilex today announced the appointment of its Director of Strategy and Regeneration and the Director of Development.
Director of Strategy and Regeneration, Gerard McCleave, is currently Director of Consultancy at BDO Stoy Hayward, one of the world’s leading accountancy and management consultancy practices. He has previously held senior posts in local economic development, his earlier career being in central government.
Gerard brings a wealth of experience in urban regeneration and local economic development, having worked on strategic projects across a range of sectors including tourism development, key infrastructure development, enterprise, innovation and education. He has co-ordinated a range of initiatives including the Integrated Development Fund in the North West and, as an advisor to central and local government, has gained extensive understanding of the regeneration issues facing Derry – Londonderry.
Director of Development, Brenda Fraser worked as a lawyer in private practice for ten years in her native Aberdeen before joining the commercial property development arm of Morrison plc where she completed a variety of developments before moving to Northern Ireland in 1995 to take responsibility for the delivery of the Carrickfergus Maritime Area regeneration. She also worked on the Danesfort project in Belfast in joint venture with NIE plc and on projects in Dublin and Co Laois. Brenda then headed up the development of a factory outlet centre near Milan before returning to Northern Ireland.
Welcoming both appointments, Ilex Chief Executive, Bill Kirk, said: “Brenda and Gerard bring unique skills to the team and join Ilex at a key time. The Ebrington Masterplan is now out to consultation and we expect to launch the Fort George Masterplan in spring 2007. Together, both sites will play a significant role in driving the city’s regeneration agenda and Brenda and Gerard’s experience will prove invaluable as we move forward“.
Brenda takes up post November 1st while Gerard’s appointment starts January 2nd 2007.

Ilex was set up in 2003 by the Northern Ireland Office of the First and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM) and the Department for Social Development (DSD) to plan, develop and sustain the economic, physical and social regeneration of the Derry City Council area.
Ilex recently launched its Masterplan for Ebrington and the deadline for comments is November 17th. The Masterplan for Fort George will be produced spring 2007.
